How do I get the Nintendo Wi-Fi to work with my wii console?

I have been at this for hours now and I can find no problems with any connections that I have with my wii, yet it still says that it cannot connect with Nintendo Wi-Fi. I have access to the wii shop channel and I can get on the wii speak channel but it will not allow me to do a chat. However, I can send and receive messages from the wii message board and the wii speak channel. I have already been through several troubleshooting websites and I have even redone the whole internet connection in my house. Nothing so far has helped. Do I need to download something that I don't have? Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how in the world I can fix it????
I have tried receiving a friend code, but it was not able to give me one because it had to connect to Nintendo Wi-fi to do so.

What is it with the addiction to game systems, parents?

A short while back there was a question concerning an elementary school aged boy that was very heavy, and the asker was concerned about his weight problem and was looking for ideas to get him more active to help him out.

So I suggested that they get rid of the game systems, and do things out of the house such as team sports.

I got TONS of thumbs down, and it seemed that everyone else's answer was, "get a Nintendo Wii." They all got tons of thumbs up.

Now I know what a Wii is - I have one that I play with when the toddlers are in bed. Sure, it's a step in the right direction because you don't just sit on a couch..

But why does everyone think that the Wii replaces all exercise?

Why is everyone willing to let their kids live in front of the Wii and tell themselves it's a great thing, because it's exercise?!

I don't get it. If I want my kids to get exercise, the tv is shut down and we're all playing in the back yard.

Am I just not "with it?"

I got a ps2 with in the first week they came out, and that was my last console I bought. So I've been out of the loop for a while.

I was looking at new systems and the wii is one of the cheapest, and seems like it has the most value.

I was wandering if you could hook up a regular controller for games like madden?

Do they have shooter games with good graphics?

And do they have the old school nintendo games for it?

I think Playstation, Xbox, and Wii will eventually have nearly similar graphics and online services. I also think that motion control will be the next big thing in gaming.

So do you think that Nintendo will be the top gaming console in the future?
liop00000 i am talking about the future. 10-15 years from now, eventually Wii's gameplay will be a lot better by then.

Vidy, if the 360 eventually does get motion control, the Wii's motion control will be much more advanced than the 360's since it will be years ahead.
